The Problem
The college decision is one of the most consequential choices young people make, and they make it with almost no data. Major matching is guesswork, scholarship search is painful, and admissions counseling is a luxury. There was an opportunity to democratize all three with AI.
The Process
Built a multi-step quiz that captures interests, strengths, and priorities, then sends the results to Claude for major matching with explanations. The "alternate universe" simulator is the standout feature — it lets users explore what their life might look like if they'd chosen a different field, based on real career trajectory data.

Behind the Build
The alternate universe simulator was a late addition that became the app's best feature. It started as a throwaway idea in the planning doc and ended up being what users talk about most. Sometimes the most differentiated features come from exploring the edges of what's technically possible, not the core use case. The quiz → Claude matching pipeline is under 30 seconds end-to-end including LLM latency.
